Police FC seek top spot as Leopards chase derby momentum

Gor Mahia, Kakamega Homeboyz, Kenya Police and Posta Rangers are all locked on 20 points, separated only by goal difference at the summit of the 18-team league.

The FKF Premier League resumes on Saturday, December 13, with two fixtures lined up on the second day of Matchweek 12, both carrying significant implications at the top and bottom of the table.

The headline encounter of the day will be staged at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, where reigning champions Kenya Police FC welcome a resurgent AFC Leopards in a high-stakes afternoon showdown kicking off at 4:00 pm.

Following Friday’s results, the title race remains delicately poised.

At the opposite end, Kariobangi Sharks continue to anchor the table, with Sofapaka and Murang’a Seal also stuck in the relegation zone on 12 points.

Police head into the clash in a confident mood after picking up four wins from their last five outings, including a narrow 1–0 victory over Kariobangi Sharks in their most recent match.

Head coach Dusan Stojanovic will be keen to secure another win that would not only push his side back to the top but also create daylight between them and the chasing pack.

AFC Leopards arrive buoyed by their morale-boosting Mashemeji Derby triumph over Gor Mahia, a result that halted a three-game winless run.

The Ingwe faithful will be hoping to ride that momentum as they aim to claim another high-profile scalp and strengthen their title ambitions.

Head coach Fred Ambani is expected to stick with the core of experienced players who delivered in the derby. A victory would lift Leopards, currently eighth, onto 20 points and firmly into the congested title picture.

Elsewhere, attention shifts to Awendo Green Stadium, where Mara Sugar face bottom-placed Kariobangi Sharks in a crucial 2:00 pm kickoff.

The Sugar Millers are chasing their fourth win of the campaign and only their second at home, and will see this as an opportunity to capitalise on Sharks’ ongoing struggles.

Three points would take Mara Sugar to 17 and further ease relegation concerns.

For Sharks, the pressure continues to mount. Winless in seven matches, they must rediscover form quickly if they are to revive their survival hopes and climb out of danger.

With the table finely balanced at both ends, Saturday’s fixtures promise to further shape the narrative of an increasingly unpredictable FKF Premier League season.
