SHA Chief Executive Officer Mercy Mwangangi said the suspension took effect on June 23, 2026 and affects services offered under all four health financing schemes administered by the authority.

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has temporarily suspended MP Shah Hospital from its panel of contracted healthcare providers pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
In a statement released on Wednesday, SHA Chief Executive Officer Mercy Mwangangi said the suspension took effect on June 23, 2026 and affects services offered under all four health financing schemes administered by the authority.
The suspension applies to services covered under the Primary Healthcare Fund (PHCF), Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), Emergency, Chronic, and Critical Illness Fund (ECCIF), and the Public Officers Medical Scheme Fund (POMSF).
SHA assured beneficiaries currently admitted to the hospital before the suspension date that they will continue receiving care until completion of their current treatment and discharge.
“To ensure a seamless transition and continuity of care, beneficiaries already admitted at the facility before the suspension date shall continue receiving care till completion of their current episode of care and discharge,” Mwangangi said.

However, patients seeking new admissions, follow-up care, or other medical services during the suspension period have been advised to seek treatment at other SHA-contracted healthcare facilities.
The authority said the updated list of contracted healthcare providers can be accessed through its website and the Afya Yangu platform.
Beneficiaries requiring support in accessing alternative facilities, referrals, or continuity of care have been urged to contact SHA through its toll-free number 147.
SHA said the temporary suspension will remain in place until investigations are concluded.
Mwangangi noted that the authority remains committed to protecting access to quality healthcare while ensuring accountability across contracted facilities.
“SHA appreciates the cooperation and understanding of beneficiaries and stakeholders and remains committed to safeguarding access to quality and accountable healthcare services,” she said.
