Gachagua seeks full benefits through August 2027 after impeachment

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is asking the court to award him full compensation and benefits through August 2027, saying impeachment in October 2024 should not remove entitlements tied to the office.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is seeking full compensation and benefits for the remainder of his term, arguing in court that he is entitled to the earnings he would have received up to August 2027, despite his impeachment in October 2024.
His demands include Sh42 million in unserved salary, Sh14 million in retirement pay, a monthly pension of Sh980,000, gratuity, official vehicles, security, medical cover, and other retirement benefits.
Gachagua is also seeking VIP privileges, diplomatic passports, staff support, and state-funded allowances, insisting that his removal from office should not strip him of benefits attached to the position.
