Haiti, Turkey, and Tunisia were the first teams to be mathematically eliminated from contention for the Round of 32.

The race to reach the World Cup climax is already taking shape, with several traditional football heavyweights making strong starts in their qualifying groups.
Mexico and the United States have taken early control of Groups A and D, respectively, each sitting on six points, while Germany has also asserted its dominance in Group E. Argentina, England, Norway and France are among the teams setting the pace in their respective groups as they push for places at the global tournament.
Elsewhere, the competition remains finely balanced.
Canada and Switzerland are locked on four points in Group B, while Brazil and Morocco share the lead in Group C. Group F is equally competitive, with the Netherlands and Japan tied on four points, closely followed by Sweden on three, keeping the battle for qualification wide open.
Several groups remain too close to call.
