With this victory, Spain moves level with France and Uruguay on two World Cup wins each, while Argentina remains on three.

Spain has joined football’s most elite ranks after beating Argentina 1-0 in extra time to claim the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ferran Torres scored the match-winning goal in the 106th minute, handing Spain its second world title and bringing an end to Argentina’s reign as champions.
With this victory, Spain moves level with France and Uruguay on two World Cup wins each, while Argentina remains on three. Brazil retains the record as the most successful nation with five titles, followed by Germany and Italy with four each. England remains the only other country to win the trophy once.
Spain’s triumph adds to a historic list of just eight nations that have lifted the World Cup since 1930. The win also underscores Europe’s ongoing dominance on the global stage and brings a memorable close to the first-ever 48-team FIFA World Cup.
