Stray lion kills man in Kwale

The remains of the body have been collected and taken to Kwale sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem.
According to a police report filed at the Kwale Police Station on Monday, January 1, 2024, a senior warden at the Shimba Hills National Park Reserve in Kwale County discovered the body of an unknown male African adult while on patrol today at around 9 am.
Along lion footprints, the warden found an abandoned motorcycle in the Marere forest area on the Kwale - Kinango road.

After a short follow-up, freshly human body parts were found and suspected to have been mauled by a lion.
Police officers from Kwale Police Station, led by the County Police Commander and KWS officers, visited the scene.
