Along the Coast, counties including Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Lamu are expected to receive showers at different times of the day and night, interspersed with sunny spells during daytime hours.
Kenya will experience a mix of rain, heat and cold conditions over the coming week, with weather patterns varying sharply across regions, the Kenya Meteorological Department says in its latest outlook covering December 16 to December 22.
According to the forecast, rainfall will be widespread, affecting areas on both sides of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley floor, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coast, North-eastern counties and the South-eastern lowlands.

The Department noted that the expected rains could disrupt activities in key farming areas and major towns during the forecast period.
The outlook further shows that some regions will record high daytime temperatures, with readings exceeding 30 degrees Celsius in parts of the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya, as well as sections of the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley and the western highlands.
In contrast, nighttime temperatures are projected to drop sharply in elevated areas. Minimum temperatures are expected to fall below 10 degrees Celsius in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, some Rift Valley locations and areas around Mt Kilimanjaro.
Regionally, counties within the Lake Victoria Basin and the western highlands, such as Kisumu, Kakamega, Kisii, Kericho and Bungoma, are likely to see bright mornings, followed by afternoon showers and occasional thunderstorms, with isolated rainfall at night.
In North-western Kenya, including Turkana and Samburu, conditions are expected to be mostly sunny during the day, although a few places may experience morning showers and afternoon or night thunderstorms.
For the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, Nairobi and neighbouring counties are forecast to have cloudy starts to the day, occasional rainfall, and later sunny intervals accompanied by scattered afternoon showers.
Along the Coast, counties including Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Lamu are expected to receive showers at different times of the day and night, interspersed with sunny spells during daytime hours.
The forecast comes after a week of increased rainfall across much of the country.
Between December 8 and December 14, the highest weekly rainfall total—160.2 millimetres—was recorded at the Winfred Kavengi station in Kitui County, which also registered the highest 24-hour rainfall on December 13.
Temperature data from the same period show that Lodwar recorded the highest maximum temperature at 37.1 degrees Celsius, while Nyahururu experienced the lowest minimum temperature at 4.7 degrees Celsius.
The Department advised the public to use the seven-day outlook together with daily and five-day forecasts, adding that more detailed, county-level information is available through local meteorological offices.
