7 Kenyan bikers set for epic 5-month Africa ride to fund education

The bikers' route spans over 4,000 kilometres, starting in Kenya and traversing Somalia, South Africa, Senegal, and Tunisia.
Seven Kenyan motorcyclists, led by Nairobi Chapel's Senior Pastor Rev. Nick Korir, are gearing up for a five-month journey around Africa's coastline.
Their mission is to raise funds for the Logos Endowment Fund, an initiative aimed at supporting the education of 1.5 million out-of-school children in Kenya.
The riders, known as the Around Africa on Motorcycle Bikers, will be joined by fellow bikers from the countries they pass through, celebrating the beauty and unity of the African biker community.
Speaking at a memorandum-signing event, Rev. Korir detailed the journey's plans. "We will begin our journey on 12th December from Nairobi Chapel Ngong Road to Marsabit through the Thika Super Highway," he said.
The bikers' route spans over 4,000 kilometres, starting in Kenya and traversing Somalia, South Africa, Senegal, and Tunisia.
"Our mission is: to celebrate the beauty and diversity of our Africa while fundraising to establish the Logos Endowment Fund. We want to break the cycle of poverty in Kenya through transformational education," said Rev. Korir.
The journey has already received high-profile support. On December 2, the bikers were commissioned as goodwill and peace ambassadors of Kenya by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi during Kenya's 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Journey Celebrations at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre.
Preparing for a five-month ride across multiple countries is no small feat. Rev. Korir emphasised the rigorous mental, physical, and emotional preparations required for the trip.
"The last few months have been extremely intense. Firstly, we've had to prepare ourselves mentally by walking through each day of this trip and leaving nothing to chance. We've also had to ensure that our bodies are in peak physical condition not to mention spending quality time with our loved ones since we will be away for a long time," Korir shared.
