Garissa water agency head arrested for allegedly faking KCSE certificate

Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested Dolal Mohamed Mohamud, Managing Director of Garissa Water and Sewerage Company, on Thursday on suspicion of using falsified academic qualifications to secure the position.
EACC spokesperson Eric Ngumbi confirmed the arrest, stating that Mohamud is accused of altering his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) grade from D to C+, allegedly meeting the University of Nairobi (UoN) admission requirement.

"If convicted, Mohamud could face forfeiture of salaries and benefits earned during his leadership," Ngumbi emphasized, highlighting the potential financial and career consequences for Mohamud.
An interesting twist emerged with a letter from EACC Deputy CEO Abdi Mohamud to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). It revealed that Mohamud's lawyers challenged the allegations by providing certified copies of all his academic certificates.
The letter states, "Mr. Dolal's progression from certificate to diploma and then degree stems from his D in KCSE," contradicting initial claims of a fake KCSE certificate for direct UoN admission.
Currently detained at Garissa Police Station, Mohamud is expected in court tomorrow.
