Plane skids off runway at Mandera Airstrip, 36 escape unharmed
Emergency response teams stationed at the airstrip quickly moved in to evacuate passengers trapped inside the wreckage before securing the scene.

In a statement, the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) said the aircraft, carrying 32 passengers and four crew members, veered off the runway during landing at approximately 9:10 am, local time, before coming to a stop near the perimeter fence of the airstrip.
“KAA confirms that an aircraft operating a domestic flight from JKIA was involved in a runway excursion incident at Mandera Airstrip this morning,” the statement said.
All passengers and crew were safely evacuated after ground response teams acted immediately. No injuries were reported.

KAA said it is working closely with relevant stakeholders to determine the cause of the incident, while reaffirming its commitment to safety, security, and operational excellence across all its facilities.
The aircraft was operating a scheduled domestic service from Nairobi to Mandera.
The authority added that aviation safety remains a top priority as investigations into the runway excursion continue.
