The order specifically suspends the disciplinary action based on allegations outlined in a letter from the UDA dated May 7, 2025.
Orwoba’s lawyer, Moses Mabeya, filed the court application on Thursday, seeking to block the disciplinary hearing.
The senator was expected to appear before the UDA disciplinary committee on May 16, 2025. She is facing accusations of breaking the party’s code of conduct.
The UDA committee, led by Charles Njenga, pointed to three incidents as the basis for the disciplinary action.
The first, Orwoba’s role in welcoming former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, while the second one is her attendance at Matiang’i’s homecoming event at Gusii Stadium.
The third arises from comments she made during an interview on Spice FM on April 22, where she criticised the government’s labour mobility programme, an important project of President William Ruto’s administration.
With the court’s order in place, all disciplinary steps against Senator Orwoba are paused until further judicial review.
