FKFPL: Shabana stun Homeboyz with four-goal masterclass

Shabana FC delivered a statement performance at Gusii Stadium, dismantling Kakamega Homeboyz 4-1 to snap their visitors’ 12-game unbeaten streak in the FKF Premier League. New signing Oscar Juma came off the bench to score twice, while Elvis Ochieng and Brian Michira added to the tally in a dominant display. Despite a late consolation from Henry Omollo, Homeboyz had no answers to Shabana’s relentless attack.

Shabana FC produced their most dominant display of the season, thrashing Kakamega Homeboyz 4-1 at Gusii Stadium on Sunday, 2 March, to end the visitors’ 12-game unbeaten run in the FKF Premier League.

Elvis Ochieng opened the scoring for the hosts in the 32nd minute, capitalising on a goalkeeping error from Simon Masaka to nod in a Justine Omwando free-kick. The goal put Shabana in control at halftime, despite Homeboyz showing early promise through full-back John Omondi and striker Moses Shumah.

The second half saw coach Peter Okidi’s tactical adjustments pay off as he introduced new signing Oscar Juma and Kevin Omundi to great effect. Juma, making his debut, wasted no time in making an impact, tapping home a rebound from Keith Imbali’s saved effort in the 65th minute. Ten minutes later, he struck again with a long-range effort that Masaka failed to deal with, effectively putting the game beyond Homeboyz.

The visitors’ defensive woes continued in the 87th minute when Brian Michira weaved through their backline before firing past Masaka for Shabana’s fourth. His celebration, complete with a flying shirt and exposed six-pack, sent Gusii Stadium into raptures. Homeboyz managed a late consolation through Henry Omollo in stoppage time, but the damage had already been done.

The emphatic win not only ended Shabana’s four-game winless streak but also marked their biggest victory of the season, sending a strong message to their league rivals. Meanwhile, Homeboyz must now regroup after their first defeat in three months.

Elsewhere in FKF Premier League action

In Mbaraki, Tusker FC missed another opportunity to go top of the league after settling for a goalless draw with Bandari. Despite an early disallowed goal for new signing Ian Simiyu and several missed chances, the Brewers struggled to break Bandari’s resolute defence. The absence of key striker Ryan Ogam, sidelined with injury, was evident as Tusker registered their fifth consecutive league stalemate, leaving them level on points with Kenya Police but trailing on goal difference.

Meanwhile, Murang’a Seal’s struggles continued after they let slip a first-half lead to draw 1-1 with Mathare United. New signing Donald Ange had put the Slum Boys ahead, but Seal clawed back to equalise with 15 minutes left. The result leaves Seal precariously positioned just two points above bottom-placed Nairobi City Stars, while Mathare edged five points clear of the relegation zone
