Homeboyz bounce back, Tusker close gap as FKFPL enters final stretch

As the FKF Premier League enters its final stretch, Kakamega Homeboyz bounced back from cup disappointment while Tusker FC kept their title hopes alive in a decisive weekend of action.
With the FKF Premier League entering its final month, key battles at both ends of the table intensified on Saturday as Kakamega Homeboyz recovered from cup heartbreak and Tusker FC maintained their title charge.
At Dandora Stadium, Homeboyz edged Mathare United 1-0, courtesy of a third-minute strike from defender Brian Eshihanda, who calmly finished off a low cross from Hillary Otieno. Without suspended top scorer Moses Shumah, the visitors delivered a composed display to take all three points.
The win was a timely boost for Francis Baraza’s side, coming just a week after their shock elimination from the Mozzart Bet Cup by second-tier side Nairobi United. The result lifted Homeboyz to fifth on 48 points, keeping their top-three hopes alive.

Mathare United, meanwhile, remain 10th on 37 points and have now gone two matches without a win after their recent draw.
Over in Machakos, Tusker FC kept up the pressure on league leaders Gor Mahia with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Murang’a SEAL at Kenyatta Stadium. Deogratious Ojok opened the scoring in the 12th minute, collecting a clever flick from Joseph Oguta before bursting past defenders and slotting home. Substitute Eric Balecho doubled the lead shortly after the break, finishing with precision just two minutes after coming on.
Murang’a SEAL had a chance to pull one back from the spot but Waithira blazed his penalty over the bar. The result leaves the relegation-threatened side stuck in 16th place, while Tusker moved to 55 points, just behind Gor Mahia in the title race.
Elsewhere at Kenyatta Stadium, Posta Rangers and Bidco United shared the spoils in a goalless draw that carried significant relegation implications. Both sides created chances but lacked sharpness in front of goal. Posta now sit 14th with 32 points, just above the drop zone, while Bidco remain 16th on 29 points—two away from safety as time runs out.
Back at Dandora, the day’s late kickoff between Sofapaka and Kariobangi Sharks also ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Sofapaka, who have now drawn four straight matches, sit ninth, while Sharks’ winless run stretched to five games, keeping them in 12th place.
With only four matches left to play, the FKF Premier League is shaping up for a dramatic conclusion—both in the title race and the battle for survival. Every point now carries added weight as teams jostle for position at the summit and scramble to avoid the drop.
