Google will no longer warn users about Dark Web leaks starting 2026
Despite discontinuing the Dark Web Report, Google says it will continue monitoring online threats, including those from the dark web, while developing tools that guide users in taking clear steps to protect their accounts and personal information.
Google has announced that it will discontinue its Dark Web Report feature, a tool designed to scan the dark web for users’ personal information, on February 16, 2026.
The tech giant says the feature will be phased out early next year to focus on tools that provide clearer and more actionable steps for protecting online information.

The Dark Web Report was created to help users monitor whether their personal information, such as email addresses, passwords, or other identifying details, had appeared in known data breaches shared or sold on the dark web.
After setting up a monitoring profile, users could receive alerts if their information was found, giving them awareness of potential exposure.
How users accessed it
The feature was available only to consumer Google Accounts (Google Workspace and supervised accounts were not eligible).
Users could access it by visiting the Dark Web Report page on their Google account, setting up a monitoring profile with their email addresses and other information they wanted scanned, and
viewing alerts under “Results with your info” if their data appeared in any breaches.
Google said that on January 15, 2026, scans for new dark web breaches will stop. Then, on February 16, 2026, the Dark Web Report feature will be fully removed and no longer accessible.
It said that while the Dark Web Report provided general information, user feedback showed it often did not offer helpful next steps after a breach was detected.
The company is now focusing on tools that give users more direct and practical actions to protect their online information.
Google, however, urged users to rely on its existing security and privacy tools by performing Security Checkups often, using Passkeys for the Google Account to sign in or using Authentication tools via the Google Safety Centre.
The company also recommended using “Results about you”, which helps users locate and request the removal of personal information, like phone numbers or addresses, from Google Search results.
All Dark Web Report data will be deleted on February 16, 2026, but users who want to remove their data earlier can delete their monitoring profile at any time.
Once deleted, access to the report ends immediately.
How to delete your monitoring profile
Step 1:
Go to the Dark Web Report page
Step 2
Under “Results with your info,” click Edit Monitoring Profile
Step 3
Scroll to the bottom, click Delete monitoring profile, and confirm by clicking Delete
