Police have launched investigations into the killing of five men whose bodies were discovered near a watering point in the Biyagadud area of Bangale Sub-county, Tana River County.

According to police, the herder was approaching the watering point at around midday when he heard several gunshots.
He also reported seeing armed individuals firing towards people who were lying on the ground.
Fearing for his safety, the herder fled to Biyagadud village and alerted local elders. The elders later proceeded to the scene, where they found the bodies of five men with gunshot wounds.

Security officers who visited the area established that the victims had sustained fatal injuries, mainly to the head.
Investigators also noted that the men's hands had been tied in pairs, suggesting they may have been restrained before being killed.
The deceased were identified as Abdi Kullow, 33, Osman Abdi Ibrahim, 35, Mohamed Adow, 25, Siyat Jele, 40, and Sahal Hile, 28.
Police documented and processed the scene as part of ongoing investigations.
However, efforts to transfer the bodies to Garissa Level 5 Hospital for post-mortem examinations were unsuccessful after members of the public objected and opted to bury the victims in accordance with Islamic traditions.
The motive behind the killings remains unclear, and no arrests had been reported by the time of publication.
The incident raised fresh concerns over security in parts of Tana River County, where authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
