Those identified will be trained on-the-job during the assessment of the 2026 KCSE examination papers.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has opened applications for secondary school teachers and college tutors interested in assessing the 2026 KCSE oral and practical examinations.

In a notice on Tuesday, KNEC said interested applicants must have at least three years of teaching experience, be aged 50 years and below, and submit their applications by July 15, 2026.

Those identified will be trained on-the-job during the assessment of the 2026 KCSE examination papers.

KNEC, however, clarified that teachers and tutors who are already in its database of assessors should not submit fresh applications.

The vacancies are available for assessors in Power Mechanics Practical (447/2), Electricity Practical (448/2), Aviation Technology Practical (450/2), French Oral Paper (501/3), German Oral Paper (502/3), Arabic Oral Paper (503/3) and Music Practical (511/1).

"Applicants must be practising teachers or tutors in the relevant subjects and be registered or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or another recognised professional body," KNEC said.

Candidates are also required to hold a Diploma or higher qualification in Education or in the relevant area of specialisation. Those applying to assess Aviation Technology Practical must have a Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.

In addition, applicants must be recommended by their heads of institution or employers and must not be under interdiction or any other disciplinary action from their employer.

KNEC directed applicants to submit their applications through the examiners' portal at https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke.

Teachers and tutors with CP2 accounts should log in using their existing usernames and passwords. Those who have forgotten their passwords have been advised to use the password reset option by entering their mobile number to receive new login credentials.

Applicants without CP2 accounts are required to create an account by following the instructions on the portal before proceeding with the application.

After logging in, applicants should complete and save their personal profiles before selecting the "Apply for assessors' vacancies" option on the dashboard, where all available vacancies are listed.

KNEC noted that the available slots are limited and only qualified applicants who submit all the required documents will be shortlisted for the exercise.
