While the weather may be chilly, the love for fresh, fruity drinks has not cooled down. Despite lower temperatures, mango lovers are still blending up one of the thickest and yummiest drinks, the classic mango smoothie.

Whether you are pairing it with a warm breakfast or sipping it after a workout, or want to make something delicious for your loved ones, this smoothie is simple to make and bursting with tropical flavour.

What you need:

1–2 ripe mangoes, peeled and chopped

1/2 cup yoghurt (plain or vanilla)

1/2 cup milk (any kind)

A few ice cubes (optional in cold weather, although do not add ice cubes for children or people with the flu)

Honey or sugar to taste (sweetener)

Optional: a pinch of cinnamon or cardamom for a warm twist

Steps to follow

Step 1

Blend your mangoes, yoghurt, milk, sweetener, and ice (if using) until smooth.

Step 2

Adjust the thickness with more milk or yoghurt. If you want it light, put in a little milk; if you want it to be thicker, add more yoghurt.

Step 3

Serve in a glass and sprinkle with a bit of cinnamon or top with warm granola for that crunch.

Step 4

If you want that spice add-ins like cinnamon or ginger. They can be made more comforting for cooler days, as we head into July.

So, whether you are wrapped in a blanket or just missing warmer days in January, a mango smoothie might be the answer you need.
