So far, police said seven suspects have been arrested following a security operation led by the Officer Commanding Station at Keumbu and detectives from the Kisii Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

Nyaribari Chache Member of Parliament Zaheer Jhanda has been summoned to appear before the Kisii County Directorate of Criminal Investigations office in connection with the violent attack that left several people injured and properties destroyed at Keumbu, Kisii County, on Friday.
In a statement on Sunday, the National Police Service (NPS) said the move is part of ongoing investigations into the chaos that disrupted a political convoy linked to the Linda Mwananchi movement along the Kisii–Keroka Road.
“The Hon. Zaheer Jhanda, MP for Nyaribari Chache, has this morning been summoned to appear before the Kisii County DCI office in connection with the ongoing investigations,” the NPS said.
So far, police said seven suspects have been arrested following a security operation led by the Officer Commanding Station at Keumbu and detectives from the Kisii Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
The service further stated that investigations are still active, with officers pursuing additional leads to determine the full sequence of events that led to the violent confrontation and to identify any other individuals who may have played a role in the attack.
The National Police Service reiterated that it remains committed to maintaining law and order, warning that decisive action will be taken against anyone found to have participated in acts that threaten public safety or disrupt peace.
Members of the public have also been urged to support the investigation by sharing any relevant information through the nearest police station or via toll-free lines.
The Friday incident left several supporters of the ODM-linked Linda Mwananchi movement injured as they travelled through Keumbu en route to Keroka for a political rally.
Among those affected was United Green Movement Party presidential aspirant David Maraga, whose vehicle was damaged during the confrontation with groups of armed youths.
Witness accounts and widely shared videos showed the attackers throwing stones and using clubs to target vehicles in the convoy, while also warning members of the public against passing through the area during the chaos.
Maraga escaped unharmed despite his vehicle sustaining damage in the attack.
The incident has sparked concern among members of the public and political leaders, with those affiliated to the Linda Mwananchi movement condemning the violence and demanding swift action against those involved and their sponsors.
