Trends in Kenya's reported offences (September 2025 – February 2026)

Most categories of crime recorded a decrease over the period, indicating a general downward trend in reported offences.

Between September 2025 and February 2026, a total of 48,545 cases were reported. This marked a slight decline from the previous period, which recorded 49,325 cases, representing a reduction of 780 cases or 1.6 per cent.
Offences under “other offences against persons,” including assaults, creating disturbance, and affray, accounted for the highest share at 12,305 cases (25 per cent). They were followed by other penal code offences at 8,226 cases (17 per cent), stealing at 7,829 cases (16 per cent), dangerous drugs at 3,581 cases (7 per cent), and offences against morality at 3,478 cases (7 per cent).
Most categories of crime recorded a decrease over the period, indicating a general downward trend in reported offences. However, traffic offences were an exception, showing an increase, while offences involving police officers, corruption, and other minor categories remained relatively low.
