A busy week lies ahead for Kenya’s courts, with several high-profile corruption cases involving former public officials, business executives, and county leaders accused of misusing public funds.
Among the headline cases is the Sh800 million Ministry of Health tender scandal involving Estama Investments and others, as well as the Sh351.1 million Murang'a County contract case against former Governor Francis Mwangi Wa Iria.
Other key hearings include the Sh51 million Garissa County payments case against MCA Abdi Ibrahim Daar, the Sh27.8 million Homa Bay County Assembly imprest case, and the Sh19.2 million Laikipia East NG-CDF ghost project.
Courts will also address cases of alleged procurement irregularities and fraudulent employment.
Former Kenya Wildlife Service officials are set to answer charges over the procurement of uniforms worth Sh11.5 million, while former IEBC constituency office clerk Amos Majisu Shidzugane faces accusations of using a forged KCSE certificate to secure public employment.
Land-related corruption cases will feature prominently, with ongoing hearings on the recovery of public land in Nakuru and Nyandarua, as well as a separate suit in the Environment and Land Court. The courts will also review claims of funds allegedly embezzled from the Kenya School of Law, underscoring the breadth of corruption matters on the docket this week.
