Nine candidates shortlisted for SRC chairperson position

The Salaries and Remuneration Commission has released names of nine candidates shortlisted for the position for the appointment of Chairperson.
In a notice on Monday, Amos Gathecha Principal Secretary for State Department for Public Service revealed that at least 70 people were shortlisted for the position following the looming exit of Lyn Mengich.

"Pursuant to the provisions of Article 230 (1) and 2 (a) of the Constitution as read with Section 4 (1) and (3) of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission Act, 2011 (No.10 of 2011), the Selection Panel invited applications from suitably qualified persons to be considered for nomination for appointment as the Chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC)," reads the notice.
The shortlisted are Osaman Hassan, Juliana Mwikali, James Wahome, Geoffrey Obonyo, Abraham Kiptoo, Rachel Muga, Sammu Chepwony and Joseph Onyango.
The interview will take place on October 8, 2024 and October 9, 2024.
"The shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at Harambee House, 5th Floor Boardroom, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi on the date and time indicated on the schedule," reads the notice.
The candidates should be at the venue at least 30 minutes before the starting time.
Requirements
According to SRC, all candidates must bring originals of the following documents: National Identity Card/Passport, academic and professional certificates and Transcripts and any other supporting documents and testimonials.
Also, the nine candidates will bring valid clearance from the Higher Education Loans Board, Kenya Revenue Authority, a registered Credit Reference Bureau, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Police Clearance), Self-Declaration Form duly stamped by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission; Commission for University Education (CUE) where applicable and Recommendation letter from the relevant professional bodies and associations (where applicable).
Members of the public have been invited to avail any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates (through sworn affidavits) to the Chairperson, Selection Panel for the Nominees for Appointment as Chairperson, Salaries and Remuneration Commission at Harambee House 5th Floor Boardroom, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi.
They can also send the affidavit via e-mail to selectionpane/[email protected] so as to be received on or before 5 pm, October 7, 2024.
In August, President William Ruto appointed Selection Panels to recruit Chairpersons and members of four Constitutional Commissions and independent offices.
This was due to the looming lapse of the single non-renewable terms of six years for State officers who head the four bodies.
The bodies were Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ)/ Office of the Ombudsman, the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).
