IEBC completes training of key election officials as 73,480 voters prepare to cast ballots in 144 polling stations during the July 16 Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has stepped up preparations for the July 16 Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, with the training of key election officials nearing completion ahead of polling day.
The commission said training for deputy presiding officers (DPOs) and presiding officers (POs) has been completed, while the exercise for polling clerks is ongoing across the constituency.
IEBC said the training is intended to equip election officials with the skills and knowledge needed to manage the electoral process effectively and ensure a credible poll.
"The training equips election officials with the knowledge and skills required to conduct a free, fair, transparent, and credible election, as the IEBC finalises preparations for polling day," the commission said.
With four days remaining before the by-election, the electoral agency said Ol Kalou Constituency has 73,480 registered voters distributed across 144 polling stations in the five wards of Rurii, Kanjuiri Ridge, Karau, Kaimbaga and Mirangine.
The constituency tallying centre will be located at Ol Kalou Secondary School hall.
IEBC reminded voters that they must present their original national identity cards or valid Kenyan passports at their designated polling stations to be allowed to vote.
"To vote, you must present your original national identity card or a valid Kenyan passport at your designated polling station," the commission said.
The electoral body also urged voters and other stakeholders to rely on its official communication platforms for accurate updates on the by-election.
"For accurate and up-to-date information, please visit our official website and our verified social media platforms," the commission said.
The latest update comes days after IEBC warned that it could postpone or cancel the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election if insecurity and violations of the electoral code of conduct continue, highlighting the need for a peaceful environment ahead of Thursday’s poll.
The by-election will determine the successor to the late David Kiaraho, who had represented Ol Kalou in Parliament since 2013.
