CAF President Motsepe praises Kenya’s CHAN 2024 preparations

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe visited Kenya to assess CHAN 2024 preparations, touring key stadiums and meeting President William Ruto at State House.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, alongside FKF President Hussein Mohammed and outgoing Sports Cabinet Secretary Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, concluded a busy day in Kenya assessing preparations for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The team toured Kasarani, Nyayo, Ulinzi Sports Complex, and Police Sacco Stadiums to evaluate progress on infrastructure upgrades. Speaking after the tour, Dr. Motsepe expressed confidence in Kenya’s readiness.

“I am impressed with the works going on, things are very different and moving on very well from when I was last here. I am confident Kenya, alongside Uganda and Tanzania, will host the best CHAN in the history of the tournament,” said Dr. Motsepe.
The day also included a meeting at State House with President Dr. William Ruto, where discussions centred on timelines and tournament readiness. FKF President Hussein Mohammed expressed gratitude for the government’s support.
“We thank the Government led by President William Ruto for the commitment and CAF for the trust they’ve given Kenya. We promise we will deliver a successful tournament,” said Mohammed.
Kenya is pulling all the stops to be ready to host the African Nations Championships (CHAN) in February 2025. Consequently, renovations at Moi Sports Centre Kasarani and Nyayo Stadium are progressing according to plan.

Outgoing Cabinet Secretary Murkomen emphasised the government’s dedication to meeting deadlines. “CAF has really pushed us to deliver within the timelines, and so far, we are on the right track,” he said.
Dr. Motsepe and his delegation departed Nairobi later in the evening, confident in Kenya’s preparations to co-host an unforgettable CHAN alongside Uganda and Tanzania.
