Shujaa seeks comeback at Vancouver 7s after Perth disappointment

After a tough outing at the Perth 7s, Kenya’s Shujaa shifts focus to the Vancouver 7s, set for 21-23 February 2025. Drawn in Pool A alongside Argentina, France, and Great Britain, Shujaa will be aiming to correct past mistakes and strengthen their push for core status in the World Rugby Sevens Series.

After a challenging outing at the Perth 7s, Kenya’s men’s rugby team, Shujaa, eyes redemption in the upcoming Vancouver 7s. Shujaa concluded their campaign at the Perth 7s on 26 January with a 19-12 defeat to New Zealand, managing to secure only three points in the entire circuit.

The Vancouver 7s, set for 21-23 February 2025 in Canada, will serve as an opportunity for Kenya to continue their quest for core status in the World Rugby Sevens Series.

Seeded in Pool A alongside Argentina, France and Great Britain, Shujaa will look to rectify their mistakes and capitalise on their opponents’ weaknesses, given that these teams are familiar foes.

Shujaa’s major assignment at the Vancouver 7s comes against Argentina, whom they faced in the fifth-place semi-final at the Cape Town 7s last December, suffering a 26-14 defeat. Shujaa will aim to turn the tables, while Argentina remain confident following their previous victory.

France, who finished sixth in Perth after a 17-5 loss to Fiji, will be looking to improve their standing in Vancouver. Meanwhile, Great Britain, despite suffering a 32-17 defeat to Shujaa in Cape Town, ended their Perth campaign on a high note with a 33-7 victory over Uruguay in the seventh-place final. With both teams eager to climb the rankings, Shujaa faces a tough challenge against determined opponents seeking redemption.

The men's pools for Vancouver 7s are as follows; Pool A Argentina, France, Great Britain and Kenya; Pool B Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and Ireland; Pool C Spain, Fiji, Uruguay and USA.
