Kenyan nationals living and working in Saudi Arabia have been urged to strictly comply with the Kingdom’s residency, labour and immigration laws as authorities continue nationwide inspections targeting violations of employment and immigration regulations.
In a notice issued by the Kenyan Embassy in Riyadh, citizens were warned that failure to comply with Saudi laws could result in legal penalties, including detention, deportation and loss of employment opportunities.
"The Government of Saudi Arabia continues to implement routine nationwide compliance and inspection measures aimed at strengthening labour governance and ensuring adherence to immigration regulations," the embassy said.
The advisory comes as Saudi authorities intensify efforts to regulate the labour market and curb immigration violations across the country.
The embassy urged Kenyans to ensure their residency permits, commonly known as Iqamas, are valid and renewed on time. Workers were also advised to adhere strictly to the terms of their employment contracts and avoid engaging in activities not authorised under their work permits.
In addition, foreign nationals were cautioned against overstaying their visas and encouraged to keep their personal and employment records up to date to avoid complications during inspections.
"The Embassy urges all Kenyans to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and to promptly seek consular guidance where assistance or clarification is required," the notice stated.
Saudi Arabia remains one of the leading destinations for Kenyan migrant workers, particularly those employed in domestic work, hospitality, construction and other service industries. Thousands of Kenyans travel to the Gulf nation each year in search of employment opportunities.
The advisory is part of ongoing efforts by Kenyan diplomatic missions to protect the welfare of citizens working abroad.
According to the embassy, safeguarding the safety, dignity and well-being of Kenyans overseas remains a top priority. Citizens were encouraged to seek assistance whenever they face challenges related to immigration status, employment conditions or legal matters.
The embassy reiterated that compliance with local laws is essential for maintaining legal residence and employment in the Kingdom and avoiding unnecessary disputes with authorities.

The meeting focused on strengthening diaspora networks, improving access to embassy services and mapping Kenyan professionals in the Kingdom. Ambassador Masila said the diaspora plays an important role in promoting investment, tourism and employment opportunities for Kenyans.
