CAJ intervenes to secure national ID cards for Isiolo family after months of delay

The parent had lodged a complaint with the Commission after experiencing prolonged delays in the processing of the IDs for his son and daughter, despite both having undergone the vetting process and received waiting cards.

A family in Isiolo successfully obtained national identity cards for their son and daughter following the intervention of the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), ending months of delays in processing the documents.
This was confirmed by CAJ on Wednesday, which shared part of a letter of appreciation sent to its Isiolo Regional Office, in which the family expressed gratitude for the Commission’s role in resolving the matter.
"I would like to appreciate the Commission on Administrative Justice, Isiolo Regional Office, for facilitating the issuance of national identity cards for my son and daughter. I am delighted to inform you that, following the Commission's intervention, my children have successfully been issued with the IDs," one of the parents of the two children, identified as A.G., wrote.
The parent had lodged a complaint with the Commission after experiencing prolonged delays in the processing of the IDs, despite both children having undergone the vetting process and received waiting cards.
Following receipt of the complaint, CAJ initiated inquiries with the National Registration Bureau (NRB), which reported that one application could not be traced in the system after being received at the production centre, while the second application had been rejected due to a poor-quality photograph.

The NRB advised the applicants to submit fresh applications at the nearest registration office.
The Commission noted that although the family complied and filed new applications, the IDs were still not processed, prompting it to follow up with NRB.
The NRB subsequently confirmed that the new applications had been received and registered, and that processing was underway.
“The Bureau further assured that it would keep the Commission updated once the ID cards were ready for collection,” the CAJ said.
The matter was finally resolved when the IDs were successfully processed and issued. In a letter dated April 2, 2026, A.G. informed the Commission that both his son and daughter had received their IDs, bringing the case to a satisfactory conclusion.
