Residents of Voi Municipality have called on local authorities to reclaim land reserved for public utilities and prioritise infrastructure development, saying improved roads and access to essential services are critical to the town's future growth.
The concerns were raised during the validation of the Voi Municipality Spatial Plan and Integrated Development Plan, where community members stressed the need for sustainable and coordinated development across the municipality.

Several participants emphasised the importance of involving local communities in development planning and implementation, noting that projects identified by residents should be given priority.
“The municipal leaders need to ensure transparency and accountability in the utilisation of public resources to guarantee that planned projects are completed and deliver benefits to residents,” said Lilian Mwashigadi
Resident Haji Mwakio said proper infrastructure was fundamental to the development of any urban area.
“Having proper infrastructure is essential for the development and growth of any urban setting. To ensure Voi Municipality prospers, deliberate moves must be made to implement key projects proposed by the community,” he said.
Voi Municipality Manager Rachael Mwadime assured residents that the municipality was committed to implementing both short-term and long-term projects.
She said the transfer of title deeds and funding to municipalities by Governor Andrew Mwadime had strengthened the municipality’s ability to deliver development programmes.
The Spatial Plan and Integrated Development Plan are expected to serve as key frameworks guiding physical, social and economic development within the municipality, helping to ensure growth is managed in a sustainable and coordinated manner.
