Ministry of Defence ranked top in 2024/25 performance evaluation

The Ministry of Defence was on Friday recognised as the best-performing under the 2024/2025 Performance Contracting Evaluation, in acknowledgement of its strong implementation of government priorities and efficient public services.

The event brought together senior government officials, including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and stakeholders from across the public sector, to assess performance and productivity in service delivery.

Defence Cabinet Secretary (CS) Soipan Tuya received the award on behalf of the Ministry, alongside Principal Secretary for Defence Dr Patrick Mariru and Assistant Chief of Defence Forces for Personnel and Logistics, Major General Peter Limo.
The recognition places the Ministry at the top of government performance rankings for the period under review, reflecting improvements in institutional efficiency, accountability, and the adoption of a results-based management approach across its operations.
In a statement following the recognition, CS Tuya said the award affirms the Ministry’s commitment to excellence in public service delivery.

She added that the recognition demonstrates the dedication of both civilian staff and members of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in advancing the Ministry’s mandate and strengthening operational readiness.
“The recognition affirms the Ministry of Defence’s outstanding performance in advancing Government priorities through strengthened institutional efficiency, enhanced service delivery, accountability, and the institutionalisation of a results-based approach under the national performance contracting and productivity framework,” she said.
The conference was convened by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) under the theme “Productivity for Fiscal Sustainability and Efficient Service Delivery”, with discussions focused on improving efficiency and accountability across government institutions.
The Ministry said it remains committed to continuous improvement, innovation and discipline in service delivery, noting that the recognition will further motivate staff to maintain high performance standards.
