Uasin Gishu will host the main celebrations at Kipchoge Keino Stadium, with Elgeyo-Marakwet and Nandi joining the event under the theme “Security and Sports”.

This year's Mashujaa Day celebrations will be co-hosted by three North Rift counties—Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi and Uasin Gishu—under the theme “Security and Sports”.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed the arrangement after the inaugural planning meeting was held at Harambee House in Nairobi, saying the move is part of ongoing efforts to take national celebrations to different parts of the country and promote inclusivity, equity and national unity.
Uasin Gishu County will host the main national celebrations at the 10,000-capacity Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret.

The meeting was attended by members of the 2026 Mashujaa Day National Celebrations Steering Committee, including Internal Security PS Raymond Omollo, Defence PS Dr Patrick Mariru, Sports PS Elijah Mwangi, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, Elgeyo-Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich and Nandi County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Engineer Robert Limo, among other government officials.
The committee was chaired by Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen.
“The committee is on schedule to deliver sports infrastructure, roads, energy and other ancillary projects in the three counties in readiness for the week-long activities that will culminate in the Mashujaa Day celebration at the Kipchoge Stadium in Eldoret,” Murkomen said.

Mashujaa Day is marked every October 20 to honour those who fought for Kenya's freedom, recognise modern-day heroes shaping the country and celebrate the spirit of resilience that defines the nation.
Last year's celebrations were held at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County.
During the event, President William Ruto posthumously conferred the Order of the Chief of the Golden Heart of Kenya (C.G.H.) on the late Raila Amolo Odinga, honouring him as a national hero for his contribution to stability and unity.
