"These efforts have been bolstered by the enactment of the Facility Improvement Financing (FIF) aimed at earmarking revenues collected at the health facility to enhance service delivery," he said.

He stated that the newly installed board members were entrusted with defining the hospital's mission, overseeing strategy, and approving budgets.

Other roles included monitoring performance and enhancing the institutional reputation.

He said the new six board members had a diverse expertise that befits their role.

The governor urged the board members to ensure the referral hospital excels in healthcare delivery and service innovation that will propel it to a higher level.

The newly appointed board members of the hospital are Dr Abdulrazaq Sheikh Mohamed (Chairperson), Daud Abdullahi Mursal, CPA, Hashim Abdullahi Aden, Mrs Nuria Abdullahi, Rukia Abdullahi Hussein, and Ali Mohamed Dahiye.

Two days ago, Wajir referral hospital operationalized its first 24-hour renal services, which serves as a milestone achievement for the residents who initially travelled to Garissa referral hospital and Nairobi to access renal unit services.
