Nairobi City Thunder clinch back-to-back basketball titles, extend unbeaten streak

Nairobi City Thunder reaffirmed their dominance in Kenyan basketball by sweeping Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) 3-0 to retain the Kenya National Men’s Basketball Premier League title.

Point guard Garang Diing led the charge with 20 points, while Tyler Ongwae and Derrick Ogechi added 14 and 11, respectively. Veteran Griffin Ligare, making his first appearance in the finals, delighted the home fans with a clutch three-pointer in the closing minutes to seal the championship.
Thunder’s control was clear from the start, storming to a 26-7 first-quarter lead and never looking back. They held a 38-19 advantage at halftime, widened it to 59-35 by the end of the third quarter, and finished the contest with a dominant 21-8 run in the final period.
KPA, desperate to keep the series alive after dropping the first two games in Mombasa (81-47 and 93-79), faltered offensively and failed to register a single double-digit scorer in the decider.
With back-to-back titles and an unblemished record, Brad Ibs’ team has not only lifted the trophy but also cemented its place in history as one of the most dominant sides Kenyan basketball has ever seen.
