Eastleigh’s rise: BBS Mall, Gold Souk turning Nairobi into regional trade powerhouse

Once overlooked, Eastleigh is now emerging as a regional trade and retail powerhouse, driven by BBS Mall’s expansion and growing international interest in its Gold Souk.

Once seen as a neglected corner of Nairobi, Eastleigh is fast emerging as one of the region’s most dynamic commercial centres, fuelled by the rise of BBS Mall, now regarded as the largest shopping complex in East and Central Africa.
At the heart of its growing draw is the Gold Souk, widely recognised for its refined craftsmanship and high-quality gold jewellery that continues to attract buyers from across the region.
The Mall has also become a point of interest for international visitors and diplomats. The latest to tour the facility was Norwegian Ambassador to Kenya Siv Cathrine Moe, who visited today alongside Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan.
