The changes come after a similar major reshuffle in November last year, when Sakaja reassigned ten County Chief Officers in a broad restructuring of the county executive.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has reshuffled County Chief Officers in a fresh round of administrative changes within the County Executive, aimed at improving service delivery to the public, with the latest adjustments taking effect immediately.
In a notice dated Friday, April 24, 2026, Sakaja said the changes were carried out in accordance with Section 45(5) of the County Government Act, 2012.
“In accordance with Section 45(5) of the County Government Act 2012, the following County Chief Officers have been reassigned as stated below,” the notice read in part.

The latest reshuffle continues a pattern of administrative reorganisation within the Nairobi County government aimed at improving efficiency and strengthening service delivery across key departments.

The changes come after a similar major reshuffle in November last year, when Sakaja reassigned ten County Chief Officers in a broad restructuring of the county executive. That exercise was also guided by Section 45(5) of the County Government Act, 2012 and took effect immediately.

That earlier reshuffle saw Godfrey Akumali moved from the Business and Hustler Opportunities docket to Housing and Urban Renewal, while Lydia Mathia was transferred in the opposite direction, effectively swapping roles.

Other changes in the November exercise included Tony Michael Kimani’s reassignment to Social Services and Estate Management, as well as shifts in the environment and public service dockets, where Hibrahim Otieno moved to the Environment docket, replacing Geoffrey Mosiria, who was transferred to Citizen Engagement and Customer Service.
