The movement says it will press ahead with its nationwide mobilisation campaign despite violent disruptions at its recent rallies in Kisumu and Nyahururu.

Linda Mwananchi will proceed with its next political rally in Taita Taveta on Saturday despite violent disruptions that marred its recent events in Kisumu and Nyahururu, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has announced.
In a post on his X account on Monday, July 13, 2026, Sifuna said the movement would press on with its nationwide mobilisation campaign despite the violence witnessed over the weekend.
"We shall keep moving. We have a country to save. We have no other choice but to keep moving! Tukutane Taita Taveta Sato," Sifuna posted.

The announcement comes a day after separate Linda Mwananchi events in Kisumu and Nyahururu were disrupted by violence, drawing condemnation from the movement's leaders.
In Kisumu, violence broke out outside St. Stephen's ACK Cathedral, where Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo and other leaders had attended a church service.
The National Police Service (NPS) said one person was killed, several others were injured, nine motorcycles were torched, and a police vehicle was damaged after rival groups clashed. Police said eight suspects were arrested and remain in custody pending arraignment.

Later, Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o and the County Security Committee said two people had died in the violence.
In Nyahururu, another Linda Mwananchi rally descended into chaos shortly after leaders attended a church service at AIPCA Nyahururu Cathedral. Police arrested six suspects and dismissed claims by Murang'a Governor Irungu Kang'ata that his driver had been shot, maintaining that Joseph Gitau sustained chest injuries after being struck by stones during the unrest.
The incidents come amid heightened political tensions ahead of the Ol Kalou by-election scheduled for next Thursday.
Following the violence, Linda Mwananchi leaders accused security agencies of failing to guarantee the safety of their supporters and vowed to continue holding political rallies across the country.
The National Police Service condemned the violence in both counties and warned that anyone involved in political intolerance, sponsoring criminal gangs, incitement or disrupting lawful political gatherings would face legal action.
