Siaya Governor James Orengo and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna have reaffirmed their commitment to the Linda Mwananchi movement, dismissing reports of divisions and insisting its leaders remain united.

Siaya Governor James Orengo has dismissed claims of divisions within the Linda Mwananchi movement, insisting that its leaders remain united and committed to working together.
Speaking on Sunday during a church service at St Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral in Kisumu, Orengo said reports suggesting that the movement had split were false, maintaining that its leadership remained firmly together.
Orengo said he invited Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to the event as a show of unity, even as another group of Linda Mwananchi leaders attended a separate engagement in Nyahururu.
"I invited my colleague, Comrade Edwin Sifuna. The big team in Linda Mwananchi is in Nyahururu, but I wanted Sifuna to come here because there are a lot of people, including yesterday, talking about divisions in Linda Mwananchi. Sifuna's presence here today is to put you to shame. We are together, we are walking together, and we shall never be divided," Orengo said.
Sifuna backed Orengo’s remarks, urging members of the movement to remain united despite what he described as attempts to create divisions among its leaders.
"We must all remain united. Hata wakijaribu kuleta vitina gani, hatuachani," Sifuna said.
The Kisumu event was, however, briefly disrupted by tension after a group of armed men allegedly attempted to force their way into St Stephen’s ACK Cathedral, where Orengo and Sifuna were attending the service. Reports indicated that one person was injured during the confrontation before security officers intervened and restored calm.
Meanwhile, another faction of Linda Mwananchi leaders, led by Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, attended a church service at AIPCA Nyahururu Cathedral before addressing a political rally later in the day.
The parallel engagements came a day after the movement announced changes to its campaign programme ahead of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, saying it had suspended planned activities in the constituency over alleged security concerns.
