No response means no available slot, KMTC tells transfer applicants

KMTC noted that applicants who do not receive any communication should consider their requests unsuccessful due to a lack of available slots.

Applicants who did not receive a response to their transfer requests may have missed available opportunities, according to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), which has addressed concerns over delays in feedback for students seeking course or campus transfers.
The institution clarified that transfer requests are not automatically approved and are subject to the availability of slots in the preferred course or campus.
KMTC noted that applicants who do not receive any communication should consider their requests unsuccessful due to a lack of available slots.
The clarification followed complaints from students who said they had waited for nearly three months without receiving updates on their applications.
One student questioned why applicants were not informed of the outcome of their requests, regardless of whether they were successful.

KMTC explained that both course and campus transfers depend entirely on vacancy availability.
“Please note that a course change is subject to the availability of vacancies in the preferred programme. If your request has not been successful, it means that no vacancy is currently available in the course you selected,” the institution stated.
The college added that the same criteria apply to students seeking transfers between campuses.
The statement comes amid growing concerns from students who say they have not received feedback after submitting transfer applications through KMTC’s admissions system.
Students seeking a course or campus transfer are required to submit their requests through the institution’s official online admissions portal.
Applicants must log in, select the relevant transfer service from the menu, complete the required details, and submit their application. Successful applicants are then notified through SMS.
KMTC released guidelines on April 21, 2026, outlining how students should apply for transfers, deferments, or course changes that will all be submitted exclusively through its official online admissions portal, following the full digitisation of the process.
Students seeking a course change, campus transfer, or deferment were required to log in to the portal, select the relevant option from a dropdown menu, fill in the required details, and submit their application.
