According to the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, investigations based on verified complaints received up to April 30, 2026, reveal a recurring pattern of human rights violations affecting hundreds of victims across the country.
The Commission identified violations related to personal security, sexual violence, loss of life, property destruction and enforced disappearances. Many of the cases were linked to the exercise of the right to peaceful assembly, including allegations of excessive force, unlawful killings, arbitrary arrests and abductions.
KNCHR also documented violations of economic and social rights, including loss of property, livelihoods, displacement and inadequate access to medical care. As of April 2026, the Commission had verified and recorded 1,101 victims who consented to be included in its provisional register of affected persons.
