Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has declared his exit from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, citing deep frustrations and alienation as his primary reasons for leaving.
Speaking on Saturday in his constituency, Nyoro said he will work with like-minded leaders across the political divide to shape what he called a new path for the country.
He, however, noted that he is still consulting widely before making a formal announcement on his next political direction.
“The decision we are making is not about whether to support the wheelbarrow or not, or where. That decision we made a long time ago,” he said.
He stressed that his decisions would be guided by public interest rather than pressure from political camps or individuals, insisting he would not be rushed into a final position. He told supporters that his focus remains on Kenya’s future direction and the need for leadership guided by citizens’ needs.
“I will not be pushed around. I know my conscience is clear. If Kenya changes and moves in the right direction, work becomes easier for everyone,” he said.
Nyoro also called on leaders to put aside personal ambition and focus on collective responsibility in addressing the country’s economic and governance challenges, saying meaningful change requires unity.
“A leader must never make such an important decision because they are being pushed. Kenyans must be at the centre of every political decision we make,” Nyoro said.
The legislator further stated that his experience during nationwide campaigns has made him more careful about political decisions, insisting that leaders must act in the country’s best interest rather than personal gain.
“I campaigned across Kenya in 2022, and we made promises to people. Today, Kenyans are asking where those promises went…that is why I will not rush into another political decision before I know exactly what I am doing,” he said.
